computing support technician

The primary responsibility of the Computing support technician is to offer technical support to computers both remotely and on-site. The areas of work include troubleshooting computer hardware, peripherals and software applications. Sometimes they are also asked to focus on network and internet connectivity.

IT support technicians usually hold an associate's degree in computer science or a related field. However, on-the-job training might be provided to a candidate, with only a high school diploma, who demonstrates exceptional communication, problem-solving and analytical skills.

Computer technicians are typically expected to hold a minimum of a bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science or another closely related field. Some employers may accept candidates who have an associate's degree.
