Cisco software Engineer


Cisco IOS (Internetwork Operating System) is a proprietary operating system that runs on most Cisco Systems routers and switches. The core function of Cisco IOS is to enable data communications between network nodes. Nexus OS runs on Cisco's Nexus family of data center switches.


Cisco Software Engineer develops, manufactures and sells networking hardware, software, telecommunications equipment and other high-technology services and products. They pioneered the concept of a local area network (LAN) being used to connect geographically disparate computers over a multiprotocol router system.

Cisco IOS is a monolithic operating system running directly on the hardware while IOS XE is a combination of a linux kernel and a (monolithic) application (IOSd) that runs on top of this kernel.
